Crazy, I know. A lot has changed in the last year. And I love it!
Anyways, I have realized I just joined another group of mothering 'weirdos' out there. Extended breastfeeders.
The term 'extended breastfeeding' mean that you breastfeed your baby/child longer than the average 12 months. The WHO suggests breastfeeding for 2 years and not just the measly one year here in the states. (Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond.)
So I have been an extended breastfeeder 3 times around now. Aili nursed for 14 months, Frank 20 and Gwen now 12. So I have had a baby on my boob for 3 years and 10 months. That's a long time. I had no idea how long it has been until I just now added it all up. And this has been one at a time. I have never been a tandem nurser (nursing more than one baby at a time).
So let do some math here....
Pregnant 3x for 9 months each = 27 months (2y3m)
Breastfeeding 3x = 46 months (3y10m)
Been married for 80 months (6y8m)
So....I have not had some crazy mama hormones running a muck in my body for only 7 months of my marriage. Really? So what am I going to use as an excuse for my erratic mood swings when we are done having kids? Hmpf. Oh well, I guess I will have to keep going what I'm good at....growing and feeding babies!!
There problem solved.
(oh and just because my baby is so stinkn' cute!!!.....)
