Mixed emotions

The movers come in 12 hours.

Tomorrow is going to be insane. I have no idea if I will come out of tomorrow with all of my sanity. I'll keep you updated tho.

This is the second longest place I have lived in. I lived in my childhood home my whole childhood. Never moved. Same little 'burb house. It was cute and nice.
Then as most of us do moved to college, in and out of dorms, different apartment every year or so. Then I met KA hubby and we bought this house. We have lived here for 7 years and 1 month.
I walked down the stairs in my wedding dress in this house.
We have brought home 3 babies to this house.
2 babies have taken their first steps here.
Lots of firsts here.

So tomorrow is a day to make some new firsts. We are moving to the other side of town into a house that is the complete opposite of this one.
Old house. Smaller lots. Neighbors that know each others names. Kids running around. People walking their dogs. Beautiful park with in walking distance.
It will be a nice change.

We are really trying to focus on the positive with the kids too. Telling them about all the new things we will be doing. All the new places we will be closer to. I did not tell Aili this is her last night in her room. Just that tomorrow we will be in the new house. She will be with a friend for most of the day. Frank will be with us for most of the day. He is much more easy going and I think viewing some of the changes will help him. We have also been going thru this process for almost 4 months. So we have answered all the questions multiple times. The have seen their new rooms. They have been a large part of this undertaking. Helped pick out kitchen counter tops, cabinets, floor sanders and tagged along for hours and hours at Lowe's. I think that has really helped both of them. I'm hoping all of their involvement is going to make this transition less scary and go smoothly.

This is a big kicker....we will save Aili's Catholic school tuition for next year in property taxes. That makes it all worth it right there. Knowing that our kids can go to Blessed Sacrament School means the world to us.

I guess I better sign off. Big day tomorrow.

T minus 5 days

M Day is in 5 days. And I'm not too sure how I feel about it.

Excited. Yes.
Nervous. Yes, very.
Scared. Yes, sh*tless
Happy. Yes.
Proud. Yes...kick ass hubby is really living up to this one!

One minute I look around this house and think "Oh, all will get done. Everything is fine, Carrie... You have this so under control, you should give lessons on this stuff"
Then I blink and the thoughts change. "OF ALL THAT IS LIVING...what are you doing, Carrie?? You have nothing done. You are never going anywhere at this slow pace. Why in the world are you blogging...you should be packing packing packing."

The same goes for the new house. As from the previous blog post, you know all of what KA hubby is doing. He is now having to repaint because of taking out FIVE radiators. But I know he will get it all done. He is my husband and I trust and believe in him.

And in the middle of all of this baby Gwen has decided to crawl, clap and make this cute little squishy face. She is my comedy relief.

Sheesh....

So I think I'm changing my middle name from Anne to STRESS!

Remind me never ever never ever to move again. I'm pretty sure this is a circle of hell according to Dante. Seriously this sucks.

Not only are we moving but kick ass hubby is renovating the house we are moving into. So he's not around in the evenings because he's:
Giving me a brand new kitchen (cabinets, counter tops, appliances, back splash)
Took out a wall and 2 doors
Redirecting a set of stairs
Replacing hardwood floors in 2 rooms
Sanding hardwood floors in 3 rooms
Giving me an upstairs laundry room
Put down Flor in one room

And he's doing this 85% alone. All on his own. It's flipping amazing. But flipping stressful.

I have been trying to pack here and there when I have a chance, but it's not going well. I have a handful of boxes done, but nothing that makes any dent is this clutter I call home.

This is also one of those times that it really stinks that we don't have any family in town. I have asked other families how they did this and they go on and on with their attack plans and then I ask, "Well where were your kids when you were packing/organizing/moving?" The reply I get is usually, "Oh, my parent's/sister's/brother's house." Ya we don't have that. So we do this on our own.

I could get so much more done if the short people didn't need a mother...sheesh! Isn't 5 old enough to make your own dinner? It has to be in some culture. Take me there.

Oh and there is the cry of the shortest of them all. Time to go back to my day job!

Say a little prayer for us....it may go something like mine that goes thru me often "Mary help me now, Mary help me now, Mary help me now." Short simple.
